REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SLEMAN -- Thousands of Muslims who belong to the Forum Ukhuwah Islamiyah (FUI) staged a solidarity action at the Point Zero Kilometer of Yogyakarta City, Friday (13/11/2023). The action was held in response to Israel's attacks on Muslims in Palestine.

“This action is an act of solidarity with friends in Yogya, scholars, figures in FUI that we can do from afar with moral support by giving our best prayers and also donations to help our brothers in Palestine,” said FUI publicist Ardiyanto.

He said the solidarity action was a very spontaneous act as Muslims responded to developments in Palestinian Gaza. He also condemned the bombing of Palestinians.

“Right now, it's in increasingly dire conditions because Israel is blindly aware that it has dropped 6,000 bombs in six days the same as the United States dropped on Afghanistan in one year,” he said.

It added that the Israeli offensive was also considered to have dispossessed Palestinians, even then stopped the electricity and water supply in Palestine. In addition, humanitarian aid coming to Gaza is also prohibited. “It means this is as if the conditions are already severe and left to be annihilated by Israel,” he said.

Ardiyanto said as many as 5,000 participants enlivened the action. In addition to the orations, the solidarity action will also include fund-raising and humanitarian aid. He also said similar actions will be taken again if the situation in Palestine does not improve.

“I think we will continue to monitor developments in Palestine. And through this action also yesterday through the luminaries, our scholars called to the mosques for Friday sermons, then educational events, Friday prayers, all gathered to help our brothers in Palestine,” Ardiyanto said.
